Outdoor Program Blog – March 2017 – Volunteer Opportunities at Camp

Treasure Valley Scouters,

As I write this letter the temperature is closely approaching a rocking 55 degrees! Although we are likely due for some more snow before Winter fades into Spring, the camp season is upon us! In a recent survey we found that there was a desire to help and be involved at camp in particular with the preparation and maintenance of the property. With that valuable feedback I wanted to make you all aware of how you can help TVSR!

Volunteer Opportunities:

April 29th – Beaver Day!

All are welcome! One of two Beaver Days held in the Spring each year! You can register as a Troop/Pack or individually! Campsites are free for all of those who volunteer. A registration form will be open one month in advance.

Potential Projects include but not limited to:

  • Painting
  • Brush clearing/chipping
  • Platform maintenance and moving
  • Trail work
  • NEW Arrow of Light Council Ring work!

May 20th – Beaver Day AND Open House

This Saturday in May is a big weekend for TVSR! We have a Webelos Under the Stars open house on the West Camp. We have our Scoutmaster Meeting and SPL Camp Orientation on the East Side! To top it off we have a morning of service planned with the OA supporting our work!

Potential Projects include but not limited to:

  • Trail Work
  • Spreading wood chips/gravel
  • NEW Arrow of Light Council Ring work!
  • Order of the Arrow’s Boonesville Project

These are just two of our planned work weekends at TVSR. Interested in helping on a different date? Contact Ranger Matt or Ian Snyder. We need your help to get our camp open for Summer 2017!

Calling all Tradesmen! Skilled Labor needed!

Are you a skilled Tradesman? Fancy yourself a handyman? Landscaper? Know how to use a hammer? TVSR has several projects that require plumbers, carpenters, electricians, landscapers, and more… even if it’s only a few hours of time, we need your help!

See you at TVEX!
