Popcorn Show & Sell Orders Due Soon! Unit Account Info

Believe it or not, it’s Popcorn Time! Popcorn Kickoff is Thursday, August 16 at 6:30PM at St. Joseph’s Parish Center in Auburn at 63 Central Street. All units participating in the Unit Incentive Program must be represented, even if the Kernel cannot attend. We look forward to seeing you! Calling all Kernels! Register your 2018 Unit Kernel

Have you submitted your 2018 Unit Kernel yet? There are plenty of corny popcorn puns to pop, but being a Unit Colonel Kernel is no laughing matter! The 2018 Popcorn Committee is looking for for commitments to the sale early this year, and will be hosting the first-ever Kernel Academy on June 13. Each year in Central Massachusetts, Scouts sell over $400,000 of popcorn products. More than 70% of which comes back to support Scouting with about one third going to the unit (pack, troop, crew or post) to support the program for the year ahead and one third to Mohegan Council to support Scouting programs and activities.

In addition to supporting local Scouting, Scouts can earn their way to camp! All registered members of the Mohegan Council are eligible to participate in the annual Popcorn Sale, and while most units opt to coordinate their own sale, resources are available at the Council Service Center for lone-selling-Scouts. (See tab below for lone-selling-Scout information)

In addition to earning prizes, Scouts have a ton of fun selling popcorn, and gain some valuable experience with communicating with people. They also develop self-confidence and money-management skills.

Unit Incentive Program

All Mohegan Council units (Packs, Troops, Crews, and Posts), are eligible to participate in the Unit Incentive Program to earn up to 33% of their unit’s sales, on top of individual seller prizes! The basis of the program is that the unit conducts their own sale, and has a designated Unit Popcorn Kernel. The Kernel is the person in the unit who organizes the unit’s sale, collects orders from Scouts, and submits orders via the online system.

Lone-Selling Scouts

All registered youth members of the Mohegan Council are eligible to participate in the annual Popcorn Sale. If a unit is not participating in the Unit Incentive Program, a Scout may choose to be a lone-selling Scout. He may pickup sale materials at the Council Service Center as well as return his completed order forms and money when he is done selling. Scouts will sell take-order style only. However will be considered on a case by case basis if he has a substantial plan, to sign out Show & Sell popcorn and to have an Online Selling ID created for him.

If he is in need of assistance or advice, he should, with the assistance of his parent or guardian, contact his Area Kernel.

  • Prizes will be ordered on a paper form at the time he drops off his order forms.
  • Payment must be in full at the time the Scout turns in his order. Scouts wishing to allow customers to pay upon delivery must front those funds with full recourse.
    • Scouts can use the provided “Thank You” cards to give customers confidence they will receive their order.
  • Popcorn will be picked up at the final distribution day, November 10.

    • Every Unit Top Seller participating in the UIP receives a special 2018 Popcorn Council Strip Patch (CSP)
    • Council Top 25 Sellers (including lone-selling-Scouts) are invited to a special meet n’greet before being called out on the ice at the Railer’s Game!
      • All sellers over $600 receive 2 free tickets the Worcester Railer’s hockey game on January 19 vs St. Johns IceCaps at DCU Center.

Lone-selling Scouts may submit their order form(s) with full payment at any time once they are done selling at the Mohegan Council Service Center. They should use the below form to help them choose their prize(s) and prepare their order.

Lone-selling Scout Payment & Prize Order Form

Units should follow instructions outlined in the Unit Kernel Playbook to submit orders via Scout Boss by the dates specified. An initial order is placed in August for Show & Sell popcorn to be used to help push product sales. On November 3 all S&S returns are due and will be transferred to the Council, as well as final orders due. Any popcorn not returned on November 3 is property of the seller - absolutely no exceptions

The Mohegan Council will keep a limited stock of popcorn throughout the sale. Should a Lone-selling Scout wish to conduct a Show & Sell, he may sign-out popcorn on a discretionary basis. Units and Scouts requesting S&S product during the sale should contact the Staff Advisor directly at .
Submitting prize orders online is for Unit Kernels only. All units participating in the Unit Commission Program will submit one prize order for the unit. Kernels should use the Master Records Worksheet located under Resources to track sales by Scout, and to track which prizes each Scout would like receive. The worksheet will tell you how many total prizes to enter into the online system, and what each Scout should be receiving. However, it is the Unit Kernel's sole responsibility to verify the accuracy of their order. Inaccurate orders may result in a loss of unit commission. Prizes will not be shipped to homes. Prize orders will be picked up at the designated location on the designated date. Unit invoices will be paid in full before prizes are released.

  • Total sales between two sellers may not be combined.
